GWCT Gun Draw

Article written by 02 August 2012

At the Blenheim Game Fair in July 2011, The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust organised a Gun Draw with the owner of the winning ticket, having a new pair of William Powell Continental shotguns made for them.

The winning ticket was drawn and belonged to Mr Tony Nash of Devon.  As Tony no longer shoots, he let his son James choose what guns should be built and he decided on a pair of William Powell Eclipse 20 bore side-by-side shotguns.  These guns were built over the winter of 2011 and collected by Tony and his son James on July 5th 2012 from William Powell’s gunroom in Banbury.

Tony says that it was his intention that the guns will be handed down to James’s son eventually, but as he is only very young, they will be “broken in” by James in the interim!

It is obviously Tony’s year as he won an Olympic gold medal back in the 1960’s and had previously won a Range Rover in another GWCT Draw.  However, having been present at the Draw at last year’s Game Fair, we can definitely confirm that there was no collusion and he won the guns fair and square!
