Countryside Alliance backs British Dairy farmers

The British dairy industry faces an uncertain future if farmers continue to receive 5 to 6p a litre below the cost of production. This will leave many farmers unable to continue in the industry they love as they are unable to make a viable living. The Alliance believes that dairy farmers should be paid a fair price for their product – this is essential not only for the future of the dairy industry, but the countryside as a whole. Supermarkets and processors need to work together to ensure that our dairy industry has a sustainable future, which is why the Countryside Alliance is backing the NFU call for the milk processors to reverse the announced and planned cuts in milk prices by 1st August.
